base housing is a ripe off on laurel bay, i dont know about PI but the sgt in my office moved off LB and tried charging her like 1000 to move out. they are so picky about anything and everything to get money out of you.i would highly recommand moving out in town

Does anyone know a place in Beaufort where I can buy my daughter ballet and tap shoes?? The ballet slippers at Walmart didnt fit my daughter right and the tap shoes at the Shoe Dept were too big so Im hoping there is somewhete else close by where I can get them. Thanks!! :)

Are you looking for something to do this weekend out in the community? The Island Recreation Association and Hargray, along with the Town of Hilton Head and Adventure Radio, will be hosting Hilton Head Snow Day on Saturday, January 28 from 11 am - 4 pm at Shelter Cove Community Park. Come frolic in the snow that day when the park will be converted into a winter wonderland. Plus check out all the inflatable rides which will truly make this fifth annual event a winter carnival. Admission is $10 for children 3 to 17 and will once again include the snow field and all the rides you can ride.

oh - if you can get out here for a WOW tour 45-60 days out, do that. You can reserve your house from the WOW tour in advance here. You can also apply and reserve a house through the phone but that's how we got a crappy "new" house the first time.

Base housing is ok. You can get a lot more for your money off base BUT you pay for it with school age children. The schools on base (at the elementary level) are supposedly pretty nice. I was offered one of the "newer" homes which are pretty from the outside but we were extremely disappointed with the inside. So much so we opted to take older housing. We live in the brick homes that were built in the 70's. Our biggest problem is the bedrooms don't heat/cool the best but those are easy fixes and the "palmetto bugs" (american cockroaches on steroids) are rampant. Of course they are everywhere there are trees - which is everywhere down here. :) It also depends a little on rank - and I do mean a little. My house is the same size as other ranks. I think the only difference I've heard is that some have 2 full bathrooms and some have 1 1/2 - OH and some have kitchens where the ovens are built ins. I personally think that's cool but I'm old fashiones. lol.

Nate just got home serving his second tour in Iraq. He is a first lieutenant in the National Guard. He LOVES the Utah Utes so much, and if enough people like his video on the Utah Athletics page, he will get to go to the bowl game in Texas. Because he was serving, he wasn't able to see ANY Ute games this year and this is their first season in the Pac 12. This would be the best welcome home present for him and he deserves it so much.
